3 Satoshi Era Bitcoin wallets transfer $230M in BTC after 6-year dormancy

Over the course of 2023, several Satoshi-era Bitcoin wallets have risen from dormancy to transfer their BTC to a new address. Three Satoshi Era Bitcoin (BTC) whale addresses that have been dormant since November 2017 transfer red 6,500 BTC, estimated to be worth $230 million, on Nov. 2. Satoshi Era BTC refers to the very early stage of Bitcoin network when it was still relatively unknown. According to data from Bitinfocharts, the first wallet moved 2,550 BTC, estimated to be worth $90 million. A second address moved around 2,000 BTC worth $71 million, and the third address transfer red around 1,950 BTC worth $69 million. All three wallets had another thing in common, i.e., the last transaction from all three wallets came on Nov. 5, 2017, nearly six years ago. FTX and Alameda linked wallets transfer $10M of crypto to exchanges in just 5 hours

According to Spot On Chain data, the firms sent $10 million worth of crypto to a single wallet address, which then deposited the funds to Binance and Coinbase. Wallets linked to bankrupt crypto firms Alameda Research and FTX transferred over $10 million worth of cryptocurrency to exchange deposit accounts in five hours on October 24-25, according to data from blockchain analytics platform Spot On Chain. ‘Trusted seller’ vends fake Trezor wallets stealing crypto: Kaspersky

Cryptocurrency users are once again reminded about the importance of using only authentic hardware wallets. Amid the rising popularity of hardware cryptocurrency wallets, the Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has reminded users about the importance of using authentic crypto devices. Kaspersky’s cyber incident expert Stanislav Golovanov on May 10 reported on an issue with fake hardware wallets impersonating major wallet firm Trezor. According to the blog post, the fake wallet allowed fraudsters to steal Bitcoin (BTC) via a replaced microcontroller, which enabled attackers to take over control of the user's private keys. The victim reportedly purchased a tampered hardware wallet that posed as Trezor’s advanced crypto wallet Trezor Model T.
