Upcoming Ethereum update stimulates liquid staking token growth

Liquid staking token s (LSTs) have begun to pick up momentum this month as the second half of the year edges closer toward a highly anticipated Ethereum upgrade. Dubbed Cancun-Deneb (or “Dencun” for short), the upgrade — expected sometime in the fourth quarter of this year — will see the introduction of a mechanism known as “blob-carrying transactions.” Liquid staking providers, especially Lido, have gained significant traction, underlining users’ preference for greater liquid ity and flexibility in their staking activities, blockchain analytics firm Glassnode wrote in a research note on Monday. As such, protocols and assets linked with staked ETH are delivering outsized gains when compared to other major digital assets in the market on the week. Ethereum’s Shanghai upgrade made it easier to detect criminals

Staking rewards following Ethereum’s Shanghai upgrade have made it easier for investigators to spot counterintuitive behavior by ETH holders. With its historic Merge event in September, Ethereum has become a proof-of-stake blockchain. The mechanism now used to confirm transactions relies on validators staking their Ether (ETH). Ethereum’s March upgrade, codenamed Shanghai, finally enabled stakers to withdraw their locked Ether.  The Ethereum ecosystem’s “investment themes” have included a) decentralized finance (DeFi) b) stablecoins c) Bitcoin (via wrapped versions of BTC) and d) non-fungible tokens (NFTs). With the upgrade , the network also began providing fixed-income assets. There are currently several ways people make money on or using Ethereum.
